Garfield’s Tari Eason hit the game-winning shot with 0.5 seconds left in the game as the Bulldogs won the Metro League Boys Basketball Tournament championship game, 65-64, over Eastside Catholic Friday night at Seattle Pacific University.
In the last three possessions of the game, Garfield freshman Jaylin Stewart hit a three-point shot to give the Bulldogs a 63-61 lead. Eastside’s JT Tuimoloau responded with a three-point shot of his own to give the Crusaders a 64-63 lead with 2.6 seconds left in the game. A tipped ball out of bound by the Crusaders gave the ball to the Bulldogs on their own baseline with 0.5 seconds left. Stewart then lobbed the ball towards the basket on the inbounds pass and Eason out-jumped the Eastside defender to tip the ball in for the victory.
