Barbara Jean Cola – beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2013. Barbara was born on September 13, 1940, in Mobile, Alabama to the union of Luezell Johnson and Etta B Johnson. At the age of three, her family moved to Pasco, Washington. She attended Pasco High School where she met her future husband, W.J. Johnson, Jr. With this union they began to build their family. Barbara relocated her family to Seattle, Washington where she married Alvin Cola, Jr. and her family continued to grow.

                In addition to raising her five children, Barbara worked for the Seattle Public School District, ABA Co. and later for The Boeing Company where she remained until her retirement in 2005. While at The Boeing Company, Barbara received numerous awards for her outstanding job performance.

                Barbara enjoyed fishing, traveling, singing, playing the piano, cards, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and many friends.

                Barbara is survived by her daughters, Renee Bell Clarke (Clive), Regina Johnson, Cassandra Johnson, Yolanda Menjivar; her son, Darnell Cola (Leanne); step-son, Alvin Cola III; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brother, Randall Johnson; her adopted son, Mohamed Al-Hassan; closest dear friend, Cheryl Leonard, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

                Barbara was preceded in death by her father, Luezell Johnson, mother, Etta B Johnson, grandson, Ivan Menjivar, brother, Bezzell Johnson, sister, Beatrice Norwood, brother-in-law, Milton Norwood and Nephew, Dwight Johnson.

Service will be held at Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church on Friday June 14th at 11:00 AM
